NBC continues its long tradition of live coverage of Times Square on New Year’s Eve with the special New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly presented by Chevy. Along with host Carson Daly, this year’s show rings in 2008 with live performances by Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz.

“Alicia has been a great friend to me and to my show,” reports Daly. “She was the first guest we had on Last Call back in 2002. With Alicia being a New Yorker, she will bring the perfect vibe to a special that really showcases the city of New York. With Alicia and Lenny, this will be our best New Year’s show yet.”

Happy to be in the middle of all of the action, it’s Daly’s fourth live New Year’s Eve special, which he calls “the biggest party in the world. On New Year’s Eve, Times Square is the epicenter of the world-- it’s the place to be and the place to watch at midnight. I’m thrilled to bring the excitement of the night into millions of homes.

Music sensation and nine-time Grammy Award winner Keys, whose new album “As I Am” recently debuted at #1, will perform on the rooftop of Rockefeller Center and treat viewers to a couple of songs from her platinum selling disc, including her latest hit single “No One.”

Fellow Grammy winner, Kravitz is considered one of the preeminent rock musicians of our time, and he is set to perform two songs live in Times Square. Among Kravitz’ credits are four consecutive Grammys, setting a record for the most wins in the “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.” His new album is set for release in February 2008.

“Adding a live performance by Lenny Kravitz takes this show to another level. Putting these two elements together will bring a great rock-n-roll feel to our show,” states Daly who is producing as well as hosting.

In addition to his late night program, Last Call with Carson Daly, Daly has hosted a number of primetime specials for NBC, including Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.

The NBC New Years coverage began with live radio broadcasts from Times Square hosted by legendary announcer Ben Grauer in the 1940s, and continued into the age of television with The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. And Daly says he’s honored to continue the tradition.

Daly promises to give viewers the experience of being in the middle of the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve destination-- Times Square. Today correspondent Tiki Barber and MSNBC anchor Amy Robach will help Carson’s coverage of the celebration with live reports from the heart of Times Square among the hundreds of thousands of spectators.

It should be a wild time for everyone.

Is this going to be available on the internet?

I think it's great that so many new year's things are now available online. Earthcam is very good one.

There was another one that I found called http://www.brentandtimmy.com

The site said that 2 presenters are going to toast to every single time zone. Is this for real? I don't see how it can be done. They will be drinking alcohol for 24 hours then? I find this extremely difficult to believe.

Thanks.
