Backstage At The 50th Grammy Awards

Fergie, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Cyndi Luper, Tina Turner, etc., Get Grammy Goodies

The Grammys hit a major milestone, the 50th anniversary of the music world’s biggest event. So the annual awards presentation pulled out all the stops to salute the greatest in all areas of the recording industry.

There was a lot of excitement backstage at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, prior to the CBS broadcast (Sunday, Feb. 10). A lot of major music stars showed up early for rehearsals so they could catch Tina Turner performing. The fabulous Fergie performing with John Legend was also a must-see for everyone in the arena.

Fergie, nominated for “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” was thrilled with the opportunity to duet with Legend. “Just when I think my life can’t get any better, something else comes along,” the “Duchess” reported, referring to her relationship with Josh Duhamel as well.

Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli, plus John Fogerty, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis singing together were among the other great moments that caused the greats and the near-greats to stop dead in their tracks backstage and just savor the magic of the moment.

The fresh-faced talented cast of the movie Across the Universe teamed with the Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas Mirage show “LOVE” troupe to showcase the Beatles music in a breathtaking tribute.

Who was around for the Grammys? Everyone from Miley Cyrus to Cyndi Lauper, and a lot of other “girls who just wanna to have fun,” including Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Feist, Nelly Furtado, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Natalie Cole, Mary J. Blige and Aretha Franklin. And country music’s latest little darling, the platinum-selling Taylor Swift, up for Best New Artist, who considers Carrie Underwood, last year’s Best New Artist, to be the greatest star created by American Idol and a great role model.

Among the guys having the most fun were comic George Lopez, who had the best-selling comedy album “America’s Mexican,” and country star Dierks Bentley, who scored big on the country charts this year with “Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)” and “What Was I Thinking.”

Yes, the biggest stars were part of the Grammys gala, and all the performers and presenters got the greatest goodie bags on record for the Recording Academy’s celebration.
