Enjoying a Trend-Setting Malibu Beach Party

Image

The California beach town of Malibu was made famous generations ago, thanks to vintage films such as Beach Blanket Bingo and Gidget. Plus the surfing culture of the area, which took hold in the ’60s, served as inspiration for the Beach Boys and their classic songs.

Nowadays, Malibu is the place celebrities crave when they want to make a splash. The little ocean front community is where the stars live and play. The restaurants and shops along the Pacific Coast Highway are where you can enjoy hot bodies and cool breezes.

It’s a perfect place to spot the people who set the trends, especially if you’re invited to a Malibu Beach Party.

Borden Entertainment and Distinctive Assets, the celebrated company that has redefined the art of gift giving and product placement, teamed up with the Environmental Media Association (EMA) and L.A. Direct Magazine to say farewell to summer at the greenest party in Malibu over the recent Labor Day weekend.

Entertainment industry insiders and newcomers enjoyed a perfect day at the beach, swimming and dancing in the sand as the deejay filled the air with music.

Among the stars on hand was David Alan Basche, who will soon be seen in the USA Network series The Starter Wife, based on the top-rated mini-series starring Debra Messing. The show (premiering Oct. 10) is set in showbiz saturated Malibu and really captures the lifestyle, Basche reveals.

Basche and his actress wife Alysia Reiner love Malibu and support all the eco-friendly efforts being made to save the environment. They were glad the carbon footprint of the party was offset thanks to the support of Carbonfund.org.

Leaving their footprints on the beach were Caroline D’Amore and some stunning models showing off her oh-so-hot swimsuit line.

Afterwards they were seen checking out the racks of casual wear from the Motor City Legends line. MCL, from the LA-based Trendy Rags company, is a fast-raising design house that the motorcycle (and Ed Hardy) fans are noticing.

Jade Cole, finalist in cycle six of America’s Next Top Model produced and hosted by Tyra Banks, looked every inch the super-model when she tried on the rocker-chic MCL hoodies and tees. And she was delighted with the re-launched Fresh & Famous line. It was all captured by Elevation Photography.

Other notables were Kim Coles of E!’s Chelsea Lately; Page Kennedy of Showtime’s Weeds; singing sensation Taylor Dayne; reality show celebrity Slade Smiley, of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Orange County/ Date My Ex; Meredith Monroe, Melrose Place; Mary-Margaret Humes, Dawson’s Creek; and Linda Thompson.

All loved the gifts they received from Motor City Legends, the fabulous boots and show-stopping high heels from Sofft Shoe Company. Plus Hugitz, Pharmacopia and Thirsty Towels & Bathrobes to dry off after a dip in the ocean.

“Our Malibu Beach parties are all about the chic, fun and socially-conscious Southern California lifestyle,” said Glenda Borden, head of Borden Entertainment, the celebrity party planners.

The allure of the Malibu party was its blend of social consciousness with traditional beach fun with a purpose. And, of course the goodies.

Distinctive Assets announced that they will be auctioning off items that were signed by the talent who attended the event. Anyone can scoop up autographed memorabilia (including a Fender guitar, Naturescast bark stool, a Yogamatic yoga mat and much more) by going to www.fabulousgifts.com between now and October 15, 2008.

All profits from the auction will benefit the Environmental Media Association, now that the summer festivities have concluded in Malibu
