Vinoteque
Melrose

Image

Vinoteque has the kind of comfort where one wants to stay a little longer rather than leaving after the last course. It has the comfort that keeps you lingering until the chef sends out his last dessert. At first glance one thinks the walls are made of bottles of wines, as in "Vino-therapy" and the unusual decorated mirrors attract glances. Other things of interest are the attractive drop lamps set in front of the ceiling with recessed lighting. All the seating are padded on wooden chairs, matching the floors.

There's a beautiful area for outdoor seating, and while all tables are arty and lovely to dine on, there's also a large Cabana for snuggling. In addition it all comes alive with brick and tall heaters. The tables are just as arty outside, but rather than round, they are square. However, wherever you are seated you will be sent specialties of the Chef for two or more.

The brunch menu offers guests a selection of Executive Chef/Co-owner Joshua Smookler's favorite recipes, including: Belgian Waffles, (chocolate ice cream, Gnocchi, Lobster Roll, Pork Belly "BLT" and Apple Tarte Tartin by Pastry Chef Sheila Gomez.

Guests can enjoy a glass of wine with an appetizer or entree and look down Melrose or just sit back on the patio and relax. It's a hot spot for Angelinos, offering over 250 varieties of wine and a European inspired menu. You can choose the intimate indoor setting with wood flooring, wine racks and special window seating with French doors opening onto the famous Melrose Ave., or dine alfresco in the back  patio surrounded by whimsical lights and a flowing fountain.

We enjoyed Vadouvan shrimp, Jidori chicken, roasted beets and Yellow-fin tuna with avocado, watermelon radish, and goat cheese, in green pepper corn vinaigrette. There were also oysters! And all were compliments of the Chef, (given to everybody).
